Area residents are digging deep once again to help those in need in the community.
Volunteers with the Goodfellows fanned out across Chatham last night for the annual Porchlight drive, collection donations for the 69th annual No Child Without a Christmas campaign.
In all, $57,680 was collected. Although lower than last year’s record $59,789 night, organizers say they are humbled by the support. Volunteers also collected close to 2000 toys and 175 banana boxes full of food, both up from last year.
The next fundraising event will be Street Sales, taking place December 15th and 16th.
Last year, the Goodfellows spent over $215,000 to support roughly 1600 families in need, delivering food and toy baskets over the holidays.
