Overnight Traffic Stop Leads to Charges

A traffic stop in Harwich Township has resulted in charges for two people.

Chatham-Kent Police officers pulled over a vehicle on Harwich Road shortly after midnight and say it turns out the man behind the wheel was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Middlesex OPP.

The woman in the passenger seat was also wanted by police, in her case for failing to attend court, assault, obstructing a peace officer, failing to comply with a release order and possession of a controlled substance.

A 26-year-old West Lorne man was turned over to the OPP at the Chatham detachment, while a 19-year-old Blenheim woman was transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
