
A Chatham-Kent councillor wants the ability to better prepare for their Monday night meetings, particularly when it comes to feedback from the public.
Councillor Ryan Doyle brought forth a notice of motion at the April 13 council meeting that would see council members given more time to review all the necessary information before Monday night.
As it stands, agendas are released by noon the Thursday prior to a Monday council meeting with members of the public able to submit a written application by noon the day of the meeting to be placed as a deputation on the agenda.
“It is important that members of council receive all relevant information including correspondence and deputations from constituents in a timely manner to make informed decisions,” said Doyle.
The ward 2 representative wants the clerk to email councilors copies of any deputations received by 4 pm on the Friday prior to the council meeting, following up with any additional deputations by noon the day of.
Council will vote on the motion at the April 27 meeting.
