A Pain Court man has been charged after police stopped a vehicle driving at more than double the speed limit.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were contacted on Wednesday by a concerned citizen regarding a white pickup truck that had been seen travelling at excessive speeds on Pioneer Line between Highway 40 and Prince Albert Road.

On Thursday at around 7 a.m., authorities set up targeted speed enforcement in the area and stopped a vehicle matching the description after it was clocked travelling at 175 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

As a result, a 23-year-old Pain Court man has been charged with speeding and stunt driving. His driver’s licence was also suspended, and his vehicle will be impounded for 14 days.
