Pandemic Affecting Those Most Vulnerable

The Covid-19 pandemic is causing fear and concern everywhere, and nowhere is that more obvious than in already vulnerable populations.

The Salvation Army is still open, but if you need to access its services you need to call ahead and book an appointment.

On a post to its website, Outreach for Hunger says ‘Due to unforeseen circumstances surrounding COVID-19, Outreach for Hunger will be shut down until further notice to ensure the safety of our recipients, staff, and volunteers.’

Community Living Chatham-Kent has announced it is closing its day programs (Park Avenue, Riverview Drive, and Sass Road) and respite programs (children and adult) effective today until further notice. Daily non-essential supports have also ceased.

The Alzheimer’s Society of Chatham-Kent has also suspended its Day Program, Education Sessions and Support Groups for the time being.
