Impaired driving charges have been laid after a man was seen consuming alcohol before getting behind the wheel in Tilbury.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers received a report of a possibly impaired driver at around 4 p.m. on Friday after a man entered a Queen Street business, purchased a bottle of vodka and proceeded to drink it in the parking lot before driving away.
Officers later located a suspect vehicle and arrested the driver, who was taken to police headquarters for breath tests.
A 65-year-old man is now charged with driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. He will answer the charge in court at a later date.
