Chatham-Kent Police nabbed a pair of thieves red-handed after a call from some concerned citizens.
Two men were spotted trying to steal a parking meter on Pegley Court near the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance late Sunday morning, and when officers arrived the two fled, still carrying the meter.
They were tracked down a short distance away.
Police say the accused were also carrying backpacks with various break-in tools.
The two, in their late 20s are facing a slew of charges, including mischief, theft and possession of stolen property over $5000.
One of the accused is also facing drug and prohibited weapons possession charges.
