A special fundraiser is being held later this month to help keep local kids reading.
The Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent is holding its annual pasta dinner fundraiser on August 21st at Holy Trinity/St. Paul’s Church in Chatham.
The family-friendly event includes a homemade meal of penne marinara, with or without meat, along with a fresh garden salad or vegetables, garlic bread, cake, and freezies.
All proceeds from the event will support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Chatham-Kent, a free book gifting program that sends high-quality, age-appropriate books to children every month from birth to age five. Kiwanis Club officials say the initiative helps foster early childhood literacy and a lifelong love of reading in partnership with local organizations.
“This dinner is more than a meal — it’s a way to feed young minds across our community,” said Dorothy Belmontes from the Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent in a news release. “By supporting this event, you’re helping to put books into the hands of children who need them most.”
