With the planting season fast approaching, the Ontario Pesticide Education Program wants to help area farmers.
Susan Kelner with OPEP says they’ve made Restricted Entry Interval signs to mark off areas that have been treated with pesticides:
“It’s a way to notify workers not to enter that area for a certain length of time, normally pesticide labels will state do not enter for 12 hours, 24 hours, although it’s not a law to post a sign,” says Kelner. “It is one way for farmers to do that so they know their workers are aware of their restricted entry time.”
The signs are available for purchase through OPEP – 3 signs for $20 and 10 for just over $40. Orders can be called in: 1-800-652-8573.
