Planning Continues for Wallaceburg’s 150th Anniversary

Plans are coming together for a celebration of historic proportions.

Wallaceburg is marking its 150th anniversary this year, and staff at the Wallaceburg and District Museum are inviting local residents to join them for a step back in time.

Historical tours will be held around the community on June 28th, with participants invited to either walk or ride.

Sesquicentennial celebrations continue on Canada Day with a kids’ parade from James Street to the museum, where there will be bouncy castles, games, and barbecue, as well as vendors and live music.

Baldoon Days will take place by the Walking Bridge with historical fun including rope making, actors dressed in period costumes, and games from the 1800s.

A commemorative plaque will also be unveiled at the museum.

Organizers are also putting out a call for volunteers to help mark this important time in the community’s history. Anyone interested in lending a hand is urged to contact Myrna Jewell at the Wallaceburg Museum at (519) 627-8962.
