cops-chatham-kent-police-black-cruiser-5Chatham-Kent Police taking a 52-year-old Raleigh Township man into custody.  He was originally pulled over for speeding but that turned into something more, as brass knuckles and marijuana were found in his truck.  Add to that he was under court orders not to associate with his passenger.  The passanger a 44 Camden township man was also charged

Is it time for Chatham-Kent to slow down.  Speed enforcement has been a topic of discussion that C-K police have looked at in the past and Photo Radar has been mentioned.  Yesterday Chatham-Kent Police did traffic enforcement in Kent Bridge and on Charring Cross Road.  33 motorists charged with speeding in a single day.

An early morning break and enter at Guardian Pharmacy on King Street West in Chatham had police responding.  The front window of the pharmacy was smashed causing about $1000 with of damage.  The break and enter happened at about 2:20 in the morning.  Then moments later the alarm at Richmond Pharmacy goes off and Police discover that the front door of that establishment was smashed in.  Prescription medication was stolen from the pharmacy and about $400 with of damage was done.  There is a description of the suspect on the C-K Police website.  If you have any information about this break ins, you can contact Crime Stoppers.

Highway 401 westbound  was closed briefly last night  at the Victoria Roadoff ramp.  The driver of a tractor trailer noticing a fire near his rear axels.  He pulled over and the fire spread to his trailer.  Fire crews arrived and extinguished the blaze, Environmental teams did attend the scene as diesel was involved.
