A local man is facing charges after police raided an illegal cannabis store in Blenheim and seized several kinds of illicit drugs.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers began investigating the store known as “Blenheim Carts” in early January.

The CK police Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant at a Blenheim address on Wednesday and seized 1.5 kilograms of illicit cannabis, 500 grams of psilocybin, 51 hits of LSD, and other cannabis products such as oils, resins and hash. Officers also seized packaging material, a cellular phone, digital scales, and Canadian currency.

A 28-year-old Blenheim man is now charged with possession of LSD for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of psilocybin for the purpose of trafficking. He has also been charged under the Cannabis Act with three counts of illegally selling cannabis, and one count of possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling.

Authorities are encouraging the public to report any illicit cannabis stores by calling the police or Crime Stoppers anonymously. A list of authorized cannabis sellers can be located on the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario website.
