Police Bust Pair Of Suspended Drivers

Charges have been laid after police were alerted by their licence plate scanners about a pair of suspended drivers in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers stopped a passenger vehicle in the westbound lanes of Highway 40 at around 4 p.m. on Saturday, after a notification from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

As a result, a 26-year-old from North York was charged with driving under suspension and failing to surrender a permit for the vehicle.

Then on Monday, officers stopped another vehicle on Longwoods Road near Lindsay Road shortly before 10 a.m. after another alert from the ALPR system.

That driver, a 21-year-old from Bothwell, has now been charged with two counts of driving under suspension, failing to surrender a driver’s licence and using a plate that was not authorized for the vehicle.
