A Windsor man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Wallaceburg and assaulting her.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a man entered his ex’s residence on Wallace Street without permission on Sunday morning to confront her. However, an argument ensued and the man allegedly struck the woman several times.

Officers were called to investigate later that day at around 8:30 p.m., and determined that the man was bound by conditions not to communicate or be within 100 metres of the woman. He was also wanted for failing to attend court.

The man was located by Windsor police officers on Monday shortly before 10 a.m. and was transported back to Chatham-Kent.

A 37-year-old Windsor man is now charged with failing to attend court, failing to comply with a release order, breaking and entering, and assault. He was held pending a bail hearing.
