Charges have been laid after police were led on a chase by a man who stole a delivery van.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a delivery driver stopped on Dufferin Avenue in Tilbury on Thursday shortly before 1 p.m. and left the vehicle running as they delivered a package.
Another individual then jumped into the driver’s seat and took. However, the van was equipped with a GPS tracking device and officers located the vehicle in the Tecumseh Line area. After police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled the scene on foot but was arrested following a brief chase.
No injuries or damage were reported.
A 37-year-old from Leamington has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He was later released with a court date in March.
