A 39-year-old man is facing several charges after a police chase in Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a complaint about a possible impaired driver shortly after 10 p.m. on Wednesday. After locating the vehicle, officers attempted to pull the driver over but he did not stop, forcing offers to use an “emergency stop maneuver”.

The driver was arrested and taken to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation.

A 39-year-old Chatham man is now charged with flight from a peace officer, operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug, operating of a motor vehicle while prohibited, two counts of driving while suspended, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
