Police have identified a suspect in connection to an armed home invasion in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a Fairview Line address near Communication Road at around 8:20 p.m. on March 25, after two disguised individuals armed with a gun forced their way into the home.
The suspects demanded money from the homeowners before making off with various items. The homeowners were not injured.
Following an investigation, authorities announced on Monday that 39-year-old Michael VanDusen is now wanted in connection to the incident. He is facing several charges including break-and-enter to commit robbery, pointing a firearm, disguise with intent, and five counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
Two other suspects were previously arrested after a stolen credit card from the home invasion was used at a business on Richmond Street.
A 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested on April 10 while a 41-year-old man from Chatham was found to already be in custody at the Southwest Regional Detention Centre on an unrelated matter. The pair are both charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of a stolen credit card, and fraud under $5,000.
“We currently do not have evidence to support a charge of break-and-enter for them,” said Public Information Officer Sgt. Lynette Rosina.
