Police are urging trick-or-treaters, parents and drivers to be safe during Halloween night.

The Ontario Provincial Police said trick-or-treaters should always walk on a sidewalk if one is available and use crosswalks to cross the street.

Parents are encouraged to dress their children in bright-coloured costumes to make them more visible to drivers. As well, parents should ensure their child’s mask or other face covering does not obstruct their vision.

With pedestrians on roads for Halloween, drivers are asked to be more alert and to slow down for trick-or-treaters. Also, drivers should keep an eye out for trick-or-treaters who could step out from between parked cars or behind shrubbery.

Anyone who spots an impaired driver is asked to immediately call 911.
