Thousands of dollars’ worth of illegal drugs have been seized after police raided a magic mushroom dispensary that had opened its doors in downtown Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers with the Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant on Wednesday at the store “Fun Guyz” located at 101 King St. W.

The business opened earlier this week and had only been operating for four days.

During the search, officers seized over 370 packages of psilocybin, which is commonly found in magic mushrooms and is illegal to sell in Canada. The value of the drugs is estimated at over $20,000.

“Chatham-Kent police and our community remain committed to actively combatting unlawful businesses,” police said in a news release. ‘We will continue to work diligently to maintain the safety and well-being of our community.”

No arrests have been made in connection to the bust but police said an investigation remains ongoing.

Several Fun Guyz locations have also been raided in the past by police in neighbouring communities such as London and Windsor, resulting in criminal charges and significant seizures.
