Several intersections in Chatham continue to be the most collision-prone in the municipality.

According to the Chatham-Kent Police Service, the intersection of Lacroix Street and Richmond Street saw the highest number of reported crashes in 2023 at 14.

Officers also responded to 11 collisions at the intersection of Keil Drive South and Richmond last year, which is down from 14 the year before and 14 in 2021.

The intersections of Queen Street and Richmond Street, and Grand Avenue West and Keil Drive North were tied for the third most crashes last year at nine each.

There were a total of 2,052 collisions reported to CK police in 2023, an increase of 120 from the year before.

Members of the Traffic Management unit investigated a total of 14 fatal collisions on municipal roads in 2023, up three from the year before. The number of collisions that resulted in life-threatening injuries also increased from seven in 2022 to eight in 2023.

Police officials said tracking collision data allows them to better focus traffic enforcement and education.
