Police Seek Thieves Who Left Water Running During Chatham Break-In

Police are investigating after an unknown number of suspects caused extensive damage by leaving the water running during a break-in at a Chatham home.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said sometime between August 13 and August 31, one or more individuals kicked in a door to gain entry to a vacant home on Victoria Avenue. While inside, the thieves removed copper wiring and plumbing, along with a washer and dryer.

The water was also left running in the house, causing $15,000 in damages to the home.
