Chatham-Kent police are bringing back an educational program to teach residents more about the work they do in the local community.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service is now accepting applications from interested individuals for its Citizen’s Police Academy, which has not been offered locally since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Police officials said the educational program aims to enhance the partnership between citizens and the police service
The academy will consist of 12 classes that will provide presentations and demonstrations by the Chief of Police, the Drugs and Street Crime unit, Major Crimes, and the Traffic Management Unit among others.
All participating students who sign a waiver will also get the chance to participate in a ride-along with a community patrol officer.
Classes will begin on March 6 and will be held each Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Those interested can fill out an application form by clicking here. The application deadline is February 21.
