Police are looking for the public’s help to identify a vehicle in connection to the death of a man who was struck and killed on Highway 40 four months ago.

The Ontario Provincial Police said 41-year-old Matthew Hewer of Chatham was struck by a vehicle on September 19, 2022. His body was discovered near Highway 40 between Pine Line and Eberts Line.

Authorities are now looking to speak with anyone who saw a dark-coloured vehicle, possibly an SUV, travelling north on the highway between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on the date of Hewer’s death. Police have released a picture of the vehicle from surveillance footage, which can be viewed above.

Investigators had previously provided the description of a white hatchback passenger vehicle that had been seen in the area, as well as an individual walking in the area.
