Drew Simpson is the latest person to file for municipal political office.
The Chatham resident is already running as the independent candidate in Chatham-Kent Leamington in the upcoming provincial election, and has decided to run a ‘dual campaign’.
In a news release, Simpson says he wants to see more money from the province to bring companies like General Dynamics and Redpath Sugar to Chatham-Kent.
He’s throwing his supporting behind Darrin Canniff for Mayor, and says he’s looking forward to increasing the municipal budget.
On the provincial side, he says he wants to build a nuclear power plant on Pelee Island, and has reached out to the Governors of Ohio and Michigan as well as General Electric for a costing.
However, whether Simpson is a serious candidate remains to be seen, as he says he “hopes that his platform will be enough to entertain voters.”
