Measles is a highly contagious viral infection that spreads through respiratory droplets. Symptoms typically include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a distinctive red rash. Complications can be severe, especially for young children, pregnant individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.

Anyone who is experiencing symptoms and needs to visit a health care provider, emergency department, or walk-in clinic is asked to call first and alert staff about the exposure and symptoms.

Public Health officials say the majority of individuals are vaccinated against measles, providing them with protection against the disease. As such, the risk of contracting measles remains small to the broader community. However, as a precautionary measure, everyone is being urged to ensure they are up-to-date on their vaccinations.
