Several local families and organizations are getting a warm helping hand ahead of the winter months.
For the third year in a row, Postma Heating and Cooling has teamed up with Lennox as part of the national Feel the Love program to support deserving homeowners in Chatham-Kent.
This year, five families were nominated by the community to receive a brand new home comfort system, including air conditioning and heating, at no cost.
Journeys Recovery Home, a non-profit addictions treatment center on Joseph Street in Chatham, was also nominated. Founder Brenda Kelly said the organization has seen its hydro bills increasing drastically over the years.
“We don’t get government funding, so we rely totally on the community, and the community has just been wonderful,” she said.
Through the second week of October, Lennox will be donating the equipment, and Postma will provide the installation and labour.
“With the Feel the Love program, you know that they’re going to [help] homeowners that maybe can’t afford it or all those other situations that arise,” said Postma Install Manager Aaron Price. “It’s just nice to give back to a community that’s given us so much over the last 35 years.”
Along with Journeys Recovery Home, the Postma team will be installing furnaces and air conditioners for three families in Chatham, one in Tilbury, and another in Thamesville.
