Ontario’s COVID restrictions are expected to lift in the next week or so.
Premier Doug Ford is expected to announce today that restaurants will be able to reopen by the end of the month.
The modified step 2 of the reopening plan has been in place since January 5 and at the time Premier Ford said they would remain in place until at least January 26th.
Some reports suggest capacity limits on essential services like grocery stores and pharmacies could be eased as early as this week and restaurants reverted to 50% capacity by months’ end.
While Ontario’s Health Minister suggests seeing ‘glimmers of hope’ in the fight against COVID-19, her federal counterpart says hospitalizations across the country could continue to rise with a potential peak not coming for another few weeks.
A news conference with Premier Ford, Health Minister Christine Elliott, and Dr. Kieran Moore, Chief Medical Officer of Health has been scheduled for 11:30am.
