Preparing for the Solar Eclipse in CK

A limited number of CE-certified eclipse glasses are available, free of charge, at CK Public Library branches.

Municipal officials are gearing up for next month’s rare total solar eclipse.

The path of totality for the solar event on Monday, April 8th passes through the southern part of Chatham-Kent, along the Lake Erie shoreline. The eclipse will take place from roughly 2 o’clock to 4:30 that afternoon, depending on your specific viewing point.

Local tourism officials have set up a page on the Visit CK website detailing everything local residents and visitors to the area need to know, including prime viewing spots and how to safely view the eclipse.

Chatham-Kent Tourism has provided all branches of the Chatham-Kent Public Library with a very limited supply of free CE-certified eclipse glasses that conform and meet the Transmission Requirements.

These are available until supplies last on a first-come, first-served availability. Viewing glasses will also be available in Erieau at various locations, which will be announced soon.
