A school bus safety program is being offered to young students to help prepare for the upcoming school year.
Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services is hosting a First Time Rider Orientation Day on Saturday for students from JK to Grade 1 in both the Lambton Kent District School Board and St. Clair Catholic District School Board.
The free information session is set for this Saturday, August 19 from 8:30am until 11:30am at two locations simultaneously. One will be held at Ursuline College in Chatham with the other taking place at Great Lakes Secondary School in Sarnia.
Attendees will watch a brief animated school bus safety video and then have the opportunity to board a bus and go for a short ride together. Safety trainers will also present to talk about basic school bus safety rules, how to cross the street safely and how to evacuate a bus in case of an emergency.
The sessions will run continuously through the morning and are roughly half an hour in length.
