Support for people with intellectual disabilities will be in the spotlight at Queen’s Park today.
This is Community Living Day in the Legislature as representatives from developmental service agencies across the province will gather at Queen’s Park to raise awareness and promote inclusive communities with MPPs and government staff.
President of Community Living Wallaceburg, Kevin Cavanaugh, says government support is vital.
“We’re really not sure what it’s going to look like in the future, because the different methods of funding,” Cavanaugh says. “We just want to see that our community survives and people are able to continue to enjoy life, whether or not you have a physical or intellectual disability, that you can be part of this community and we need the support to do that, financially and otherwise.”
May is Community Living Month, raising awareness and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be an active part of their community.
