Property Stolen From Unlocked Vehicle

An arrest has been made after several items were stolen from a vehicle in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a report of a suspicious person loitering in a parking lot on Margaret Avenue in Chatham at around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The individual was also seen entering an unlocked vehicle.

Authorities arrived in the area and located a suspect who was allegedly in possession of a significant number of items that had been taken from the vehicle.

The 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with a future court date.
