With land acquisition recently completed for transforming the Merlin Road and Queens Line intersection into a roundabout, there are now plans to have engineers design and plan the roundabout.
The tender for the engineering services for the proposed roundabout located at Merlin Road and Queens Line is on the agenda of tonight’s Chatham-Kent council meeting.
Administration is recommending a tender in the amount of $401,731.95 (including HST) for the engineering services for roundabout be awarded to LEA Consulting Ltd.
Chatham-Kent started studying the possibility of a roundabout at Merlin Line and Queens Line in 2018—or back before most current kindergarten students were born.
Once engineering services are complete, the project will be tendered for construction in March 2024. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2024 with a project completion date in November of next year.
The estimated cost for the roundabout is $4.6 million.
