Protect Yourself Against Construction Scammers

With spring upon us, more people are looking to have work done around their home, and with that comes another wave of scammers.

Chatham-Kent Police have received a number of complaints about paving and other construction companies conducting door-to-door sales, getting homeowners to sign contracts, and then not honouring those agreements.

Authorities say that while reputable companies do engage in door-to-door sales, many scams and unethical practices are also associated with this type of marketing.

Homeowners are warned to be on guard for high-pressure sales tactics, a lack of credentials, no written contract, unusually low prices, and unsolicited offers.
