Local residents are invited to a public meeting Monday night to learn more about the proposed Otter Creek Wind Farm. otter-creek-site-plan

The meeting will be held at the Clubhouse at Baldoon, starting at 5 o’clock.

The development plans include 12 wind turbines located just north of Wallaceburg and if all goes according to plan, should be up and running by 2019.

Meantime, the activist group Water Wells First is promising to make Monday’s meeting a tense one.

Spokesman Kevin Jakubec wants to protest construction of the turbines.

“Boralex has not looked after their wind farm in Dover,” Jakubec says. “We have asked them repeatedly to get involved and help the people of Dover Township, but they haven’t.”

Water Wells First claims that vibration from turbine construction is at the root of increased sediment and contamination found in a number of wells around Dover Township.

Jakubec plans to present a “Shame Award” to the Boralex representatives at Monday night’s information meeting.
