The Ford government is investing $30 million dollars to help the retirement home sector cover the costs of fighting COVID-19.
This includes hiring, training, buying supplies and sanitizing the facilities.
Locally, 16 retirement homes in Chatham-Kent and Leamington will split $513,729 dollars.
“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. We need to keep our vulnerable citizens protected during this pandemic,” said Rick Nicholls, MPP for Chatham-Kent-Leamington. “With this additional funding to help the retirement home sector, we can ensure the safety and well being of seniors living in these communities and slow the curve of this virus.”
This funding is in addition to the $30.9 million that the province provided retirement homes earlier in the pandemic.
