A service club in Chatham-Kent is one of 417 organizations across Ontario that have been selected to receive a boost in funding.
The provincial government announced on Tuesday that the Rotary Club of Dresden will be awarded $14,900 through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Resilient Communities Fund.
“Non-profits are the heartbeat of our community, and this investment is fantastic news for everyone who relies on them,” said Monte McNaughton, Labour minister MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, in a news release. “Whether you’re looking for a place of shelter, somewhere to learn a new language, or meet new friends, our government will continue to invest in community programs that build a stronger Ontario for everyone.”
The announcement is part of a $37 million investment to help non-profit organizations across the province deliver much-needed community support programs. The funding will be used by these organizations to improve existing spaces, increase access to facilities, build new facilities, and grow programs, activities and services.
Since 2018, the province says its investments through the Ontario Trillium Foundation have created more than 4,600 full-time jobs and generated more than $828 million in economic benefits to communities across Ontario.
