
New provincial funding is helping to ensure local seniors have access to programs that promote wellness, independence, and social engagement.
The Ontario government is investing $446,402 through Ontario’s Seniors Active Living Centres to support eight organizations throughout Chatham-Kent–Leamington.
CK Leamington MPP Trevor Jones said the funding will help the active living centres to continue delivering programs and services that promote healthy aging, social inclusion, physical activity, and independent living for older adults close to home.
“Seniors Active Living Centres play an important role in helping older adults stay active, engaged, and connected within their communities,” said Jones in a news release.
The province said it has invested $23 million so far this year to support 416 Seniors Active Living Centre programs across Ontario.
The following seniors centres have received funding through the recent investment:
- Blenheim & Community Senior Citizens Group ($56,839)
- Active Lifestyle Centre in Chatham ($56,770)
- Ridgetown and Area Adult Activity Centre ($57,602)
- Tilbury and District Seniors Adult Centre Association -Leisure Centre ($55,000)
- Morpeth Heritage 60+ Club ($55,528)
- Club d’Age d’Or Le Foyer ($55,598)
- Leamington and District Half-Century Centre ($56,425)
- Leamington & District Half Century Centre – Wheatley & District Friendship Club ($52,640)
