Ontario Highways Program map shows upcoming work on the 401.

The Ministry of Transportation is looking ahead to the next few years of construction and road work in the region.

The province released its Ontario Highways Program yesterday, detailing future projects starting this year and extending through 2023-24.

Among the new projects locally will be resurfacing of the 401 on the eastern edge of Chatham-Kent between Victoria Road and Furnival Road this fall.

Plans are also in the works to replace the Bloomfield Road overpass, expected to happen in another couple of years.
