Ontario premier Doug Ford announced a major program Wednesday called the COVID-19 Action Plan for Long Term Care Homes.
The numbers of positive cases and deaths in the provinces nursing homes and other similar facilities has been staggering.
Ford says we must protect our essential workers and residents.
The plan will include aggressive testing and screening for workers and residents, growing the staff by re deploying workers from other areas.
Supporting long-term care homes with public health and infection control expertise to contain and prevent outbreaks.
Tuesday Ford made a 14 day order preventing staff from working at more than one facility to limit exposure.
