Provincial funding is now available to help improve or build new sports and recreation infrastructure in local communities.
The Ontario government is now accepting applications for the $200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF), which is available to municipalities, Indigenous communities, and organizations.
Those eligible can apply for between $150,000 and $1 million in funding to repair and upgrade existing sports and recreation facilities into more accessible, state-of-the-art facilities that better meet the community’s needs.
Up to $10 million in funding is also available for new and transformative sports and recreation facilities, including replacing existing facilities that have reached the end of their lifespan.
The Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund, announced as part of the 2024 provincial budget, aims to make it easier for people to live healthy active lifestyles, make sports more accessible, and help communities host events and competitions.
