The province is kicking in more cash to help out CK Transit following a tough year during this pandemic.
In all, Chatham-Kent is receiving $218,000 dollars for CK Transit, and another $23,000 is earmarked for public transit in Leamington.
“I am excited to see our transit systems getting the support they need during these difficult times,” says Chatham-Kent Leamington MPP Rick Nicholls. “As the push to become more environmentally friendly increases and people are encouraged to use transit instead of driving, having a transit system that can support larger populations is essential. We need to ensure these systems are able to function and be profitable as we return back to normal.”
Most transit systems are reporting a 90 per cent drop off in ridership, causing more financial impacts for municipalities.
