Local MPP Rick Nicholls says there will be a little more help from Queen’s Park to help with the most vulnerable during this pandemic.
The Conservative member for Chatham-Kent-Leamington says there will be an additional $415,000 in social services relief to protect homeless shelter workers and residents, as well as creating long-term housing solutions, and support plans to prepare for future potential outbreaks or emergencies.
Municipal officials say they’re still waiting for specifics from the government, but says the goal remains working with community partners to make sure the money is spent effectively to help those in need.
Since March, Chatham-Kent has received almost $3.4 million in social services relief funding.
