KidSport Ontario will receive $400,000 for equipment and registration fees, while $300,000 goes to the Jays Care Foundation to expand adaptive and Indigenous youth baseball programs. The remaining $100,000 will fund free swimming lessons and referee training through the Inclusion in Canadian Sports Network.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to play, build confidence and reach their full potential through sport,” said Natalie Pierre, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Sport. “By investing in community organizations, we’re making sport and recreation more accessible and affordable for families across Ontario, while helping young people stay active, build lifelong skills and thrive.”
Since launching in 2021-22, Ontario’s Inclusive Grassroots Recreation program has helped roughly 150,000 children and youth across the province participate in sport and recreation programming in their communities.
