Personal Support Workers at a Wallaceburg Long term care facility were protesting out front today, upset with their treatment by the facilities ownership.

The workers at Fairfield Park say they are not being respected at the bargaining table during these difficult times.

Tullio Diponti is the President of UNIFOR local 2458 and he says “ the public rally was based on how the company came to the bargaining table. They brought in concessions during this pandemic when our members are working so hard to keep the facility going, and make sure the residents in there are kept safe and alive”.

He points to the issue of under staffing and says being short doesn’t just hurt the workers, but also the level of care provided to the residents.

He adds it’s time to get back to the table and show the workers the proper respect.
