Public Input Sessions Draw Small Crowds

Nearly 30 Chatham-Kent residents attended the last budget open house last night in Chatham.

About 30 people took part in Thursday’s final budget open house in Chatham.

Just three people came to the meeting in Tilbury earlier this week, four in Wallaceburg, and 12 attended the Blenheim session.

Chief Administrative Officer Don Shropshire says regardless of attendance, having any amount of feedback is helpful when developing the municipal budget.

“There’s at least two major pieces for council and administration,” Shropshire explains. “One is so you can share with people what the proposals are, and perhaps more importantly is you get an opportunity for the public, the taxpayers, to stand up and say ‘this is what’s important for us,’ and I think council looks, every year they take into consideration the type of feedback they get.”

Budget deliberations will begin on Tuesday.
