Municipal officials are looking for feedback on an upcoming transit service that will operate in Wallaceburg.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is conducting a public survey to determine capacity needs and bus stop locations for the Wallaceburg urban public transit service, which will launch during the summer months.

“We heard from residents during the development of the Driving Forward transit strategy that improved transit to get around Wallaceburg was a priority,” said Ann-Marie Millson, Manager of Transit and Capital Asset Management.

Unlike a traditional fixed-route bus service, the busses in Wallaceburg will operate on an on-demand basis. Residents and visitors will be able to book a trip between any two bus stops using a mobile app or by calling the transit telephone line. Trips will still be shared alongside other passengers.

Any Wallaceburg Accessible riders whose disability prevents them from accessing conventional transit bus stops will be eligible for curb-to-curb service.

Anyone who wishes to take part in the Wallaceburg transit survey can do so online at www.letstalkchatham-kent.ca until March 18. A paper copy of the survey can also be filled out at the Wallaceburg Municipal Centre or Wallaceburg Library.
