Public Input Wanted for Property Tax Rebate Program

chatham-kent-logoA property tax rebate program could be discontinued, but municipal officials want to hear from the public first.

Director of Financial Services, Steve Brown, says the current program allows property owners to ask for a refund of taxes paid on buildings that have sat empty for more than three months.

The program costs the municipality about $600,000 a year.

A public meeting will be held to discuss the issue on June 27th.
