quarter auction

Members of the community are coming together to support a family who lost everything in a house fire.

Friend of the family Jen Vincent is helping to organize a quarter auction to raise money for the family.

The auction was originally planned to raise money for the daughter of the family to go on a school trip to Europe.

Since last week’s fire, the auction has expanded to help support the family as well.

“Unfortunately disaster struck the family last week, where the family had a house fire and lost everything in the home. So now we have combined the two different fundraisers. There’s going to be a few things to help Samantha raise money for her trip to Europe, and there’s also going to be things to help out the family as well.”

Vincent says there are lots of chances to win great prizes.

“There’s going to be some donations that were given that we’re going to raffle off. We have ten vendors that are going to have different items, so four items per vendor, plus there’s also 50/50 draws as well, so there’s lots and lots of chances to win great stuff for a very small investment.”

Vincent says quarter auctions involve putting in a bid worth 25 cents or more, and winners are drawn randomly each round.

The auction takes place this Sunday at the Blenheim Legion at noon.
