Rain and Snow Shouldn’t Affect Main Waterways

Conservation officials are trying to ease concerns with more rain falling on already swollen waterways.

Flooding along the Thames River, February 21, 2018

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority say we’re expecting up to 25mm of rain today.

“25mm is probably not going to mean to much here on the (Thames) river itself,” Jason Wintermute, Water Management Specialist says. “It’s more likely to have an impact on the smaller watercourses in the area, like Indian Creek, McGregor Creek, those kind of areas.”

Wintermute says it all depends on how much of the precipitation will be rain or snow.

As the temperature drops, Environment  Canada is predicting between 5-10cm of snow overnight before the system moves off to the east.
