A Chatham company is going to foot the bill to cover the cost of Chatham’s new rainbow crosswalk.

Officials of Canadian Executive Search Group Incorporated present a cheque for $2,000 to Chatham-Kent Councillor Brock McGregor. The money will be used to paint a rainbow crosswalk at the corner of King and Second Street in Chatham.

Kyle Pinsonneault and his company, Canadian Executive Search Group are putting up $2000 to pay for the installation.

Councillor Brock McGregor says they were one of the first to pledge the funds.

“The $2000 essential had been pledged during the (November 20th) meeting, I received a number of emails, and actually an email form Canadian Executive Search Group from Kyle Pinsonneault saying that he would like to make that donation, so we knew the money was out there and coming in.”

Pinsonneault says it was a no-brainer for him to cover the  costs.

“I was watching the council meeting and how things were playing out, it seemed the biggest factor was no tax money, so what we wanted to do is put an end to everything immediately and put our step forward and state that we will pay the full amount so no tax money is being used for the crosswalk.”

Pinsonneault says Canadian Executive Search Group donates thousands of dollars to Windsor Pride every year, and now support the Chatham-Kent group as well.

McGregor says additional funds were donated by the community, the excess will be put towards maintenance costs in the future.

Officials expect the work to be done in mid-2018.
